Applying for Membership
Candidates for membership MUST be proposed and seconded by two ordinary or honorary members who have been members for no less than three consecutive years. Self applications cannot be accepted. Proposing and seconding members have access to the two page application form, which they can complete for applicants.
It is the responsibility of the Proposer to:
- manage all aspects of tthe application form to completion
- submit the application to baatres25@gmail.com
Incomplete forms will be returned to the Proposer for correction/completion. The Membership Secretary will only process fully completed forms.
Candidates must provide a working email address and their date of birth.
Membership applications can be made at any time of the year but are generally processed around March each year, once the renewal process is completed for existing members after the AGM.
Members can only make one proposer/seconder proposal for a new applicant in a 12 month period and the process for taking the proposal forward is set out on the application form.
Admission to membership is by election of the BHAA Committee. Applications may be declined or postponed without stating a reason.
Annual fees (2026) are £96 p.a., which is being reviewed for 2027. There is an additional joining fee, equivalent to the annual fee, for new members. Discounted fees are available for junior (18-21 yrs), spouse/civil partner associate members and family memberships including spouse and three children up to 18 yrs old.
Duly elected new members will receive a welcome pack that includes the Constitution and full set of rules of the Association.
